Variations: Turns may be added to the vines,
choreographer Geri West likes to mix up steps #1 - #4.
Suggested Dance Style: The C.C. Cooler is a versatile dance that can be
performed at a variety of tempos but it is best performed at medium tempos -
not just because of style, but because it is very difficult to perform the
dance above the 37-40 MPM (148-160 BPM) mark and still look good unless the
dancer practices the dance a lot. At slower tempos be sure that each step is
taken smoothly. The brush steps accentuate the dance and the eight beats in
Steps #3 and #4 should blend together smoothly when they are performed.
Best performed to blusey swing tunes.
Comments: The C.C. Cooler was developed one Wednesday night when Chris was
Dee-Jaying at the Jolly Fox in Chico, California. Marcia and Geri; a little
toasted from drinking too many orange flavored California Coolers
(wine coolers), developed (actually - stumbled through) this dance in it's
raw form and Chris cleaned it up a bit, and then by the end of the night -
the Chico California Cooler or C.C. Cooler was born. Geri likes to really
mix-up the steps for the challenge and fun of it. The C.C. Cooler was
choreographed to Dwight Yoakam's song Little Sister and the dance was almost
named after the song.
