Variations: Turns can be added during the vine in Step #3, during the
shuffle steps in Steps #5 and #6 and during the Sailor Shuffle In Step.#10.
Hand claps are optional.

Suggested Dance Style: Blusey-Funk is the style that is suggested.
Express the flaring of the heels and toes in Steps #l and #2. The hip jut
in Step #4 should be sharp and expressive. Hand 'locomotive' movements
may be added during the shuffle steps in Steps #4 and #5. The knees should
bend on the first two counts and then straighten on the last two counts on
the toe swivel movements in Step #7. The two ball-change movements in Step #9
and #11 are different! Both ball-change patterns must be mastered to be
effective. The Sailor Shuffle in Step #10 can be modified for more style
with a bit of a body shift to the right- almost like making a 1/4 turn to the
right when performing the Sailor Shuffle forward.

Suggested Songs/Types Of Songs: Any song with a Blusey-Funk rhythm.

Comments: Patty Dark first introduced the song and then her idea of a 'one'
direction line dance called Boot Scootin' Boogie to Chris Hookie in February
of 1992. Chris initially was not interested but after some persistence on
Patty's part, Chris took another look at Patty's dance and began
experimenting with it in hopes to fit the style and rhythm patterns implied
and expressed in the music. It took three weeks of changes but by March they
had developed the present four directional version of Patty's dance. Even
though there is very little left of her original dance, Patty and Chris are
very pleased and proud of this intermediate level line dance. When the Boot
Scootin' Boogie song became popular, many dance choreographers nationwide
started developing their own Boot Scootin Boogie dance. There are over 20
different "Boot Scootin' Boogies"' out there so 'D/FW for Dallas/Fort Worth
was put in the title of the dance to show distinction and to show where the
dance originated from.
